Why hello livejournal! I almost forgot about you. But nevertheless I have returned and will update a little more often.

Spring Break

Well here I am again. Things have been going well. Tonight I ate at Lucilles in Weston with my Dad, Erica and Michelle. I think my Dad likes Michelle alot. He always asks me how shes doing and if Im treating her right. He told me a couple of days ago he wished my Mom had met her. I do to, but for some reason I sense he is deeply happy to see me in a relationship with someone.

Otherwise, I went to Michelles sister house and saw Chrissy's 8 month old baby. Babies are odd creations I have determined. When I walked in, Gabby (the baby) crawled over to me and immediately began crying. I was thinking why does this baby crawl towards me and cry at the same time. Its obvious she disapproves of something about me, so why bother coming towards me. I played for a little bit of course but I cant understand what so thrilling about an Ernie jack in the box. Its like each time I pressed on it, the baby expected something different to happen. Michelle was angry the baby slept for most of the time we were there. And I was attacked by a chiuahaha. This is Buzz second attack on me even though its sworn hes never done that to anyone. Maybe he knows I dont like him. One day when no one is around Im punting that piece of crap through a window.

Oh yes, I got a job at the Gainesville Sun. The Alligator doesnt know but since they screwed me over, forget them. I am going to cover high school sports and some lesser Gator sports like volleyball and soccer. I owe my friend Alden for this one. He had the foresight to leave the Alligator although he did miss out on the baseball beat.

I also got word about my application for a history major. Unfortuantely I wont know until next Monday which should aggravate me even more because I have to walk in and pick up my appeals form.

I spent Saturday night at Bongos in Miami and I was reminded of every reason why I dont like Dade County. I am surrounded by people living not the "American Dream", which is the white picket fence and three kids and a dog. No, these people are living the "Dade County Dream", which is working a shit-paying job 9-5, five days a week, and then on Friday and Saturday night, wearing clothes you cant afford and going to one of several clubs where you pretend to be someone more important than you really are. of course you live with your parents till you are 30, and are always into these get-rich quick schemes, such as real estate licenses, but you end up saving nothing, and know nothing of the world outside of Dade County and think that this world only extends to Disney World one weekend a year when you take this same approach to life and rep the 305 while in Pleasure Island. eventually your 40 and doing the same thing and then you can officially become "creepy old guy" at the club.

Well aside from that life is good. I am dveloping a six-pack after several weeks of training and ab workouts. I do that mostly to humor myself in downtime, but also because my roomate Carlos is into workouts.

I dont think too many people still use this site (as far as I know, Facebook and Myspace have taken over the social netwroking sites) but I was reading back through some entries of when I was in Europe and a freshman in college and I figured I need to update this thing much more often. Its better than those places because it allows me to look back at what I was actually feeling at that time and thats something that the other sites dont grant you.

Well anyways, my life is going pretty well now, I think. As I stated before, I am dating a girl named Michelle weve been going out since late October-ish. I am taking her to Disney World this weekend as we are finally going to use my gift to her for Christmas. She's excited and that makes me excited. Or maybe Im just excited because I havent been to Disney in such a long time. Either way, Im excited.

I am covering baseball also as I have stated earlier. Its great. I cant imagine covering a better beat than baseball. Everything is so relaxed and in general if you have the patience to sit through a game, as I do, then you really learn to appreciate the little nuances of each game.

I am coming back in the fall, but unfortunately it looks like I am losing my two primary reasons for doing so. One reason was because I wanted to cover the football beat. There are five slots availible to cover football and four have already been filled. Unfortunately for me they have been filled by seniors which means they need an underclassmen to take the other slot. It sucks but it looks like I have a decent shot of getting to be editor for part of the summer. This in itself is better than the football beat except I dont get to travel. Kind of sucks, but theres nothing much I can do. I went from Cross Country to Baseball which in the land of the Alligator is considerable mobility. And if I land editor, its an even bigger jump.

The other reason I wanted to come back another semester was to get another major in history. But sadly when I transferred into UF originally I did not at that time meet the requirements to transfer into the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences so I cant go transfer in there now even though I have a stellar UF GPA. I am appaealing the decision, and I have around a 50-50 shot to get in. If Im denied than I will essentially be doing jack shit in the fall except twiddling my thumbs and probaly working for another paper.

As much as that may suck, Im still proud of myself. I will be able to graduate with a great GPA, as a memeber of two academic honor societies, and with a top-notch degree. I will then take about a year off just covering little sports here and there and working probaly as a server somewhere and saving up money to travel. I want to get a few places in and right now. Israel, Europe, and a cross-country trip of some kind seem to be in order.

I will also be able to spend some money to take my GRE and apply to grad school. I dont know what Im going to grad school for but I do I will go. Hopefully the dual degree and editor position will work itself out.

Well that was a nice update. Feels good to be on here again and hoepfully Ill be able to provide some more insight into my everyday life. Take care all-Alex

I was right.

The whole ordeal about illegal immigration faded away and the only thing that was accomplished was a 700 mile fence and 2500 national guard units on the border.

A word of advice to every clown out there who waved another country's flag in the face of America: NEXT TIME YOU WANT SOMETHING DONT SPIT IN THE FACE OF THE PEOPLE YOU ARE ASKING IT OF.

I agree with giving citizenship to most illegals. They are hard-workers and come here peacefully. But dont ever wave your country's flag in my face then demand I give you something. People in this nation are a proud people and dont like to insulted.

Just because there are 30 million of you out there waving flags doesnt mean you are the majority. There are 270 million other people in this country. And as they assimilate into American culture they will learn nuances such as not calling for a boycott America day on the Communist Holiday. And then watching as the boycott accomplishes nothing and only hurts your community and the companies that employ illegals.

So to those who wanted rights for illegal immigrants heres some morer advice: Come back in 10 years and try waving AMERICAN flags and speaking English. And most of all dont take political saavy lessons from Mexicans. They truly ruined this issue that meant so much to them. And I feel bad because now illegals will have to wait at least 10 years for citizenship. All because some Mexicans in LA and Chicago were led by left-wing nut jobs to wave their country's flag on national television.

Well ive decided to throw my two sense in about the political situation in the world right now.

For starters Hugo Chavez is a joke and should never be taken seriously.

Second, as I felt at the end of the Israel-Hizbollah War, while Israel at first looked weakened it would ultimately emerge as the winner. Hizbollah according to some sources is badly damaged and will be unable to mount its strength up again for quite some time. It has been beaten so bad that it was forced to join in talks with making it a part of the Lebanese Army which it refused to do before. In the end Israel damaged the hand of Iran in that region.

Third, Bush needs to engage with Iran. I know it sounds crazy but that situation could get real out of hand if he doesnt change his failure of a diplomatic approach. Regan, Nixon, and Clinton all knew what to do to help preserve America's interests in the region. Sadly though Bush sticks to his guns even when hes wrong and wont back away. This could ultimately lead us into a disasterous conflict over there. Bush has already made America look weaker then anyone else before him.

Fourth, these Muslims that are rioting about the Pope are ridiculous. Where are the moderate Muslims? Apparently its ok to call Jews and Christians the most vile names one could think of, but Islam is not allowed to be criticized. These people are a disgrace and hypocrites. These are the same scum that rioted about cartoons. It appears that you can call for the death of every Jew, Americans, and Westerner on the Earth but if they say something back they get mad. Im not defending what the Pope said, but more and more people in the West are becoming of that mind frame. islam has a negative perception here and instead of trying to promote a better understanding of it the only thing we get is that they want to kill us and convert us to Islam. And thats what these liberal bastards and moderate Muslims dont understand. Its a two way problem!! You can tell the West to change its views on you then refuse to change your behavior. Fuck that.

The one thing the Pope did say that those fools are too stupid to catch up on is referring to Instanbul as Constantinople. Just when the Democrats are moving and looking more and more likely to retake the house, and at least get the Senate to 50-50 (the GOP still has the vice presidency and and tie breaker vote) democrats in connecticut decided to give the GOP a way out.

By kicking out Joe Lieberman because of the Iraq war the left wing nut jobs in Connecticut have shown that they truly do not comprehend the thinking of the average American outside of California and the Northeast. THATS WHY THEY ALWAYS LOSE. Now I consider myself an independent and most of the time I vote Democrat. If I lived in Connecticut you can bet that I would vote for Lieberman as an independent. I think its better to have Lieberman then some coward left wing guy who wants to reason with osama bin laden. i detest Bushs policies and they are an uetter failure but I am a realist and i understand some things.

For one we cant leave Iraq despite what the left wing cowards want us to do. IF we left Iraq we would one day feel another 9-11 style attack in this country. Pulling out of there would also drive hatred of us in that part of the world. we pulled out of lebanon, somalia, and afghanistan 10+ years ago and looks what happened there: raging civil wars that eventually brought extremist governments to power. if you dont learn the lessons of history you are doomed to repeat them.

now the truth is there isnt a movement to "Bring the troops home now". despite all the left wing efforts, they are out of step with middle america. and even though i will be fully disgusted by the thought of a Republican majority for another 2 years, I think the democrats could only blame themselves. they seem more intent to play to the blame america communists like randi rhodes and micheal moore instead of winning elections. the party of truman, roosevelt, and Kennedy has become the party of chicken shit cowards that for whatever reason despise this country.

my disgust with them equals that of Bush. Bush is just an ignorant fool who miscalculated on a grandiose scale. the left wing fringe of the democratic party is just as bad, because they are cowards and would invite hundreds of more attacks in response. and their only solution would be to cry about it and ask for a treaty with al qaeda.

the people on that region of the earth despise us! Iran, Al qaeda, Hezbollah all want to kill every American. YOU CANT REASON WITH THEM! We should never have become so involved with that region by sending troops there. Thats Bush's fault. but an early withdrawal is akin to what Chamberlain did in Munich in 1936. I havent updated in awhile but I figured now is a good time too. Given all that is going on in the world I feel I can enlighten some people on it.

As you may have seen the Israelis have gone after Lebanon and Hezbollah. While I think they were justified in attacking south lebanon and south beirut I have a tough time understanding the logic in attacking the rest of the country. The Sunnis and Christians in Lebanon despise Hezbollah so why attack their cities? Stupid strategy. I know the Israelis bombed and killed a ton of civilians there a couple of days ago. While its ashame that so many civilians had to be killed it also tells you where Hezbollah is hiding. their is reconnaisance footage of Hezbollah firing rockets into israel and driving into the house that these people were in. the israelis didnt kno that the people were there. they saw a truck go in there and they made a strategic decision. and a bunch of children died. thats their mindset. theyll sacrifice children to the slaughter to further their cause.

i think the Israelis should have planned it out better. but i have no sympathy for the lebanese or palestinians in these matters. and its not because im half jewish. its because im american and in the end we get blamed for it. i see no reason why the united states should help the palestinians get a state. why help people who celebrated when 3,000 of our innocent civilians died on 9-11? fuck helping them. they celebrate when we die yet they want us to help them get a state and tell the israelis to back off. while i think israel is setting up its own doom with these moves i dont think the united states is obligated to anyone in the arab or muslim world minus iraq because of that brilliant fucking idea to invade them.

as for iraq. whether morons in this country know it or not, if we leave there too early we will end up back there one day. you have my word on that. if we let crazy shiites come to power there or let a civil war go off we will be back there. and we will all forget we (THE AMERICAN PUBLIC) wanted to leave there and not the politicians. i dont like bush but the man has it right. we cant leave there early. if we do, its OUR children who will end up back there.

as for iran, their president is a nutjob yes. and they want nukes yes. but you never have to worry about people who underestimate the power of America. (Bin laden and Hitler). history shows they are the ones to bite the dust.

the sad thing about iraq is this: the rest of the world is moving forward. China, india, Russia, Europe, even Latin American countries are improving the lives of their average citizen. our economy is doing well. we unfortuantely decided to get ourselves involved in the only part of the globe that is still stuck in economic impotence. thats the real anger behind the arab and muslim world. its looking at the future and seeing that the United States, China, India, and Europe (Russia included) are all going to become powerful and intricately tied to one another for the better. and they hate it. right now their hate is focused at the west but if we areever passed by China and India it will be them.

Well it has been awhile since I have updated but what better time then now. For the first time in 7 years i do not know of any girl that I like. I cant believe it but its happened. I just cant think of any girl I could imagine myself being with.

Much of this has to do with my not having a car and being unable to leave my house to go around and hang out with people and meet some new people as well. I think unfortunately my lack of a car has come back to bite me in the ass with girls cuz i cant ask any out and i dont get many chances to go and hang out somewhere.

davids friend lorena supposedly liked me but that whole thing blew through. I think she likes Dave but I could be wrong. and regardless i dont see it happening anyways. the girls i know in gainesville arent really my type of girls. i havent even been able to meet a new girl im interested in in a long time. there was a girl i met today who really likes me but sadly she doesnt speak a lick of english. i guess my spanish has improved because i did have a thorough conversation with her. i figured out that i know spanish even though i dont get good grades in it.

my dad worries im depressed but im not. im just confined to my house alot. and that seems to bother him and my sister but it doesnt bother me too much other then i dont like being cooped up. its painful for them to be in the house so much so they dont stay home often but truthfully it doesnt bother me the way it bothers them. i can be content watching tv all day and occasionally going outside and doing something around the yard. i miss having lee in the neighborhood. i didnt realize it but having him next door really negated the negativeness of being without transportation.

i guess im ok. i do feel lonely at times but i always felt somewhat lonely even when my mom was around. i dont kno if i isolate myself or what but sometimes i feel neglected/unwanted/spiteful around people. i dont think its their faults but after failing so much with girls in life (either for me being an asshole or them being a bitch) i might just want to meet one. its an odd game. and the game is where i fuck up at.

heres how:
1.Girl likes me. I like girl. Phone calls, dates the works.
2.Girl starts game of not calling back or trying to get me jealous and ignore them in certain settings.
3.HERE IS WHERE I FUCK UP. Al says "Well you can play your fucking game. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, im cute, im smart, and this is bullshit and ill find someone else." See right here we see where Alex Weintraub fucks up. Its really like clockwork now.
4.Alex being smart decides he can play game better then girl. Alex hits on girl in front of other said girl and ends up hooking up with her even though he likes other girl. Self defeating I know. Girl sees this gets mad/upset. doesnt say anything and assumes alex is a prick. alex never admits to being wrong. alex fucks it up. girl goes on and alex dooms himself to repeat the same cycle again.

There you have it. I dont like talking in the third person but I feel it is the most adequate way to describe my situation. i dont kno what to do. i always assumed the girl i like i would be willing to play this silly game. but now for the first time i think ive exercised my options. i know i really havent but i feel empty almost now.

and why would a girl beg you to call her and stay in touch with her while your away, and then talk to you and give the impression that she wants to be with you while your up there and then run around and date your best friends cousin while your away? If i wasnt such an asshole to said person already id be even more offended then I am now.

when i look at the matchups I wonder how we're gonna stop Nowitzki. and i sort of realize we cant. But there is one thing we can do to him. I still think hes somewhat soft and you pound on him long enough he will stay out of the paint. now hes gonna hit his jumpers but its much better to have him shooting jumpers then getting easy layups and putbacks. haslem is gonna have to just get physical with him in the paint as is shaq and zo and walker. hes a great shooter so he can get his points but if hes a non factor in the paint, the heats chances improve.

as far as howard is concernced i think posey can do a good job there. howard is solid and all but he does get a little too much hype considering he plays opposite nowitzki. if we take away the paint from harris and terry they become very average players too so that goes hand in hand with defending nowitzki. if we take away the paint from dallas then the only guy they have that somewhat scares me is stackhouse. he can hit his jumpers. but id rather have him trying to beat us as opposed to howard, terry, and harris. as far as their post guys, dampier doesnt scare me, diop will only play when van horn and dampier are out, and id let van horn sit around the perimeter and have someone harrasing him when gets the ball there.

on the offensive end, the mavs cant stop shaq. they will try to stop wade with griffin which will be a disaster for them then settle on howard who probaly can do as good a job as anyone, yet even that wont be stopping him. walker, williams, payton, posey, and mourning will have to come up big. and haslem needs to hit his open jumpers. he could score 12-14 a game if he does and forces the mavs to cover him.

overall i dont like the matchup but we can easily force dallas to play our style, granted that shaq keeps up this high level of play.

its insulting to equate this to the Civil Rights Movement because its not. I think its Mexicans and Central Americans in this country seeking to find some kind of identity and a cause to rally around because no one pays them any mind. the more i hear these advocates and i hear how the Mexicans were out west first and i get sick. THE MEXICANS ARE THE DESECENDANTS OF CONQUISTADORS WHO RAPED AND PILLAGED THE NATIVE PEOPLES OF MEXICO.

they have no moral high ground in history over America on this issue. they have been equally cruel to their indigenous population as we have. the difference is we beat the shit out of them and took the land they had as much of a right to as we did. in the Mexican-American War the majority of the populations of 'Mexicans' living in the western states we eventually took supported the United States because they were native americans that HATED the Mexicans. thats not to say we treated them better, but to claim that they were there first is a joke and to claim they are the descendants of the Aztecs is comical. the poorest people in mexico today, the ones who cant afford to leave, are those descendants. there is turmoil in Mexico because the people hate the way they are treated. they are the true Aztecs if you will.

ive been very pro-immigration before in my past and i still am to this day. i want citizenship for the illegals here. what i dont want is the issue to be used as a platform to try and promote the Mexican theory that tries to make it like the Mexicans have a history of mistreatment and prejudice in this nation and they are owed something.

they are immigrants to this nation just like the irish, jews, germans, italians, polish, russians, and english were. the irish were mistreated much worse then the mexicans have ever been. the chinese have been WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more mistreated then the Mexicans have. We INTERRED the Japanese in camps during World War Two. Need i mention the blacks? The mexicans have faced discrimination for sure, but was it any worse then that faced by jews or italians or russians in this country? i dont think it is. i think the fact that they are right across the border and there is so many of them here in this nation contributes to fact that of how so many of them are poor in this nation. look at mexicans that have been here for 3 or 4 generations and u see the same type of middle class families thats prevalent in irish or italian communities.

and the best fact i can point to about this being a mexican issue is the lack of support you see for it in Miami. As the biggest hotbed for Latin immigration Miami should be up in arms about this issue but its not. its because theres not that many Mexicans in South Florida and its not an issue anyone cares about.

overall i want to help the illegals here but if i dont stop hearing this VIVA LA RAZA shit from the Mexicans I assume we put up a gigantic electric fence like from Jurrasic Park and keep them out. We every right to protect our borders and NO foreign nation should dictate policy to us. especially one we conquered so perfectly.

Well the oil prices just hit 75$ a barrel. i am refusing to buy gasoline from Exxon and Mobil and avoiding Chevron at all costs. I am sticking to Kangaroo and Hess for now. I refuse to buy gas from American oil companies. I am mostly disgusted that the CEO of Exxon got a $400 million dollar retirement package. I will tell you that the day we pay someone $400 million for a lifetime of sitting on their asses and looking at stock numbers is the day this country is truly fucked. We reward corporate pigs instead of innovaters and scientists and thats truly disgraceful.

Sure everyone is blaming Iran for the current prices. Do you want to hear something funny? WE DONT BUY 1 DROP OF OIL FROM FUCKING IRAN. WE DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM IRAN!!! So this whole Iran excuse can stop. The money is rising cuz the oil companies and stock traders use every little excuse to scare up costs. If so many people in this country are so mad at the oil companies then how about this? STOP BUYING THEIR GAS!!!

I dont agree with Bill O'Reilly on much but he makes a point. We are being fucked by corporate fat cats in the oil companies that have refused to allow our technology to progress and created a dependency on foreign oil. Weve been driving cars using oil for a hundred fucking years. Do you really think science hasnt found a way to run a car on something besides oil? THEY HAVE! but these oil companies spend billions preventing this stuff from coming out. Now we are hearing about ethanol and biodiesel. This shit has been in the works for years.

I always knew that the biggest threat to America isnt terrorists, Iran, or China. No offense but those people in Iran and the terrorists are FUCKING IDIOTS. Do you think those people are smart or sane enough to destroy America? they arent. But China knows how to defeat us. They know they will never rival us militarily or even economically. The way they figure to beat us is to let us crumble from within. They know that the biggest threat to America is American corporations. Im all for free market and free enterprise but the fatal flaw of a capatilist system is that eventually the progress of the nation will be stunted by big business. the government has to come in and regulate and break up trusts or conglomerates every few years. Teddy Roosevelt broke up the trusts in 1906 because the idea of a few wealthy fat cats having power scared him.

The Republicans and even the Democrats are in the pocket of these bastards. The American people need to make some goddamn sacrifices. We take everything for granted. We buy stupid shit. We are becoming a fake hedonistic society consumed with bullshit. If people really dont like Bush or the Republicans then why did you reelect them? And i love these polls that show Congress with a 25% approval rating. yet two thirds approve of their own congressman. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE PROBLEM IS???!!??!?!? If people are so disatisfied vote the bastards out! Especially those in pembroke Pines. right now west pines and miramar are districted into Lincoln Diaz Balart's district. hes a Cuban Republican and his district also includes west dade and 8th street in Miami. How we got in that district i dont kno. i am very dissatisfied with this congress and even though Lincoln Diaz Balart might be a good representive im voting him out. i kno he wont lose but maybe if enough people do vote against him, he'll understand that whats going on now is not acceptable.

This is scary with the Iranians. They are a HUGE threat to global stability and much worse then Iraq ever was. but now we are FUCKED because Bush has us in iraq for whatever god unknown reason. if the iranians get the nuke they will throw it at Israel or sell it to someone who will.

You know what the funny thing is? If Saddam Huessein hadnt been such an incapable military commander, his forces would have reached Tehran in 1980 and there wouldnt be a nuclear Islamic facist Iran. And the even Funnier/scarier part? If saddam was still in power, he would have invaded Iran to prevent them from getting nuclear weapons. he was the best anti-Iranian fighter the US ever had.

Im wondering if it is possible Bush could fuck up anymore then he already has with hsi won party. I dont understand how the man could have a 36% approval rating and he was reelected. It shows you that there is a good portion of this country that is a bunch of morons and didnt realize what a disaster this guy was in the first term and now do. In my opinion they reelected this guy and they got what they wanted.

I cant even blame Bush cuz right now he cant catch a break with anything. I agree with his whole illegal immigration stance but that has only pissed off hardcore Republicans who want to throw every illegal out of America and got them only more mad when all the Mexicans decided to reenact Cinco De Mayo in the streets and wave their flag everywhere. And I agree with his stance on getting America off foreign oil and finding better resources. To be honest this is Bushs best year to me so far.

Whats even more shocking is that now the American people are outraged they may have been lied to about going to war in Iraq. I would LOVE to point out that during the whole build up to the war I noticed all the blatant propoganda being fed to us. ESPECIALLY FOXNEWS. Nothing disgusted me more as a journalist then watching that channel and their ra-ra coverage of the Iraq war. they still do that same blissful coverage about all the great progress we are making there when a civil war is breaking out. dont let anyone fool you, that is a civil war not 'sectarian' violence.

overall i feel the majority of America decided to reelect this character because gay people getting married and mexicans scare them more then a having a idiot corporate oil man running the country. and now they're mad at Bush? i think the democrats are gonna try and impeach this guy if they get the congress but if they were smart theyd let him finish out the term. and it would be better for America if he did. Because right now we need to finish the job in Iraq and not pull out like most Americans want to do. We need to keep that place from spiralling out of control.
